At Birkdale, our Sound Shield Pro® Acoustic Fencing is specifically designed to reduce and control the transmission of sound between two areas. Our system is most commonly used in commercial, highways, infrastructure, industrial and residential housing development boundary projects, providing a minimum sound reduction up to 33dB.

Our Commercial Acoustic Fencing boasts a high sound transmission rating, which measures its effectiveness at blocking sound. Typically, the system is built using our steel DuraPost® with our tongue and groove reflective acoustic timber boards and rubber seals. However, we also offer a range of infill and panel options, providing flexibility for both sound reflection and sound absorption. Tested and certified by experts at Eurofins, our systems provide the performance data you need to ensure your project meets the necessary sound control requirements.

Sound Shield Pro® Acoustic Reflective Commercial 45mm T&G is a heavy-duty acoustic fencing system featuring Commercial DuraPost® steel posts and precision tongue-and-groove boards. Independently tested to achieve Rw: 33dB and DLr: 30dB, it offers excellent noise reduction for commercial, highway and rail projects, with a robust design and fast installation.
Sound Shield Pro® Acoustic Reflective Universal 28mm T&G features durable, pressure-treated Scandinavian Redwood tongue-and-groove boards, delivering effective acoustic performance (Rw: 31dB, DLr: 28dB). A cost-effective, high-performance solution suitable for a wide range of applications.
Our acoustic fencing system

Industry-Leading Structural Integrity
Commercial acoustic fences and environmental noise barriers must withstand harsh weather conditions and constant exposure to the elements. It is crucial that the fence is structurally sound to prevent damage or collapse, particularly in public spaces. DuraPost® is constructed entirely from steel posts and frames, with our Commercial and Heavy Duty posts made from Magnelis structural steel and are BRE tested to withstand wind speeds of 110mph. This ensures consistent performance and comes with up to a 25-year guarantee. By using steel instead of traditional timber or concrete posts, we eliminate the risk of failure and degradation associated with traditional materials.
Easier Installation and Reduced Costs:
Our steel posts are significantly lighter than traditional alternatives, such as timber or concrete, while offering superior strength and consistency in performance. Our Classic post is 50% lighter than timber posts and up to 85% lighter than concrete posts. This reduces material transportation costs, makes on-site handling easier, and lowers labour requirements, whilst reducing the need for expensive plant hire. With DuraPost®, you get a durable, cost-effective solution that delivers better long-term performance. It is also a more accessible and affordable alternative to other steel options, such as RSJs, which require galvanising, processing, and drilling. In contrast, our DuraPost® is available from stock, treated and pre-drilled, ready for installation.
