DuraPost®Storage Method Statement
This method statement covers the storage of the following DuraPost products: DuraPost® Classic, DuraPost® Commercial, DuraPost® HD, DuraPost® Sleeper T post and DuraPost® Gate and Corner Posts. Proper storage of DuraPost® products is essential to maintain their longevity and uphold warranty conditions.
1.Powder-Coated DuraPost®
- Powder-coated posts are supplied with a protective self-adhesive tape on the front face.
- Posts must be inspected upon delivery for any damage to the protective tape or exposed edges.
- Posts should be stored at a slight angle from the horizontal to allow surface water to run off.
- Posts may also be stored in a near-upright position if it can be done safely.
- When using “pigeonhole” or horizontal compartment storage, care must be taken not to drag posts along their length. Ensure the correct gradient is maintained for effective water run-off.
- Stock rotation should always be followed as part of good working practice.
2.Galvanised DuraPost®
- Posts must be inspected upon delivery for any damage
- Posts should ideally be stored indoors or under cover with adequate air ventilation.
- If outdoor storage is necessary, pallets must be opened, and posts separated and placed at the correct gradient to allow water run-off.
- Leaving posts strapped together restricts airflow and water drainage, which can lead to the formation of white rust over time.
- Posts may also be stored in a near-upright position if it can be done safely.
- Stock rotation should always be followed as part of good working practice.

Scope: This method statement outlines the correct storage procedures for DuraPost products, including DuraPost URBAN®, DuraPost VISTA®, DuraPost VENTO®, and DuraPost PRIMA®. Proper storage is essential to preserve product integrity, appearance, and to maintain warranty validity.
Storage Requirements
1. Protective Packaging
- All factory-applied wrapping, tape, or other protective materials must remain in place until installation to prevent damage or contamination.
2. Positioning and Support
- Panels must be always be stored completely flat and level.
- When not stored on a full-length pallet, use timber support bearers at minimum 200 mm centres to prevent bowing or distortion.
- Vertical storage is not permitted.
3. Indoor and Outdoor Conditions
- Wherever possible, store all products indoors or under cover away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
- If outdoor storage is unavoidable:
- Ensure pallets are well-ventilated and covered with a waterproof tarpaulin or equivalent.
- Position pallets at a slight gradient to facilitate water run-off and prevent pooling.
4. Stock Rotation and Colour Variation
- Due to potential minor colour/shade variations between production batches, stock rotation must be implemented as part of standard storage and installation practice.
